Is it difficult to open the one-pole tent from the inside? Camping is comfortable with a bit of ingenuity!

Aki Allen Kanone lives in Aoyama prefecture. When he was a child, he woke up to the outdoors at a camp taken by his father, and he got to know his wife and got married. Every weekend, I spend my days going camping with my wife. The current goal is "Camping in the snow in the snowy mountains," and we are steadily preparing for it.

The one-pole tent fastener is hard to open ...?

One-pole tents can be difficult to open and close from the inside ...?

The one-pole tent, which is popular among campers, is as convenient as other tents in terms of ease of setting up and withdrawal and the size of the space inside the curtain.

However, one drawback is that it is difficult to open and close from the inside. Anyone who has used a one-pole tent will have felt it.

When the zipper is completely closed, the zipper will be placed at the hem of the tent, so you must bend down profoundly and extend your arm to open the zipper.

However, the difficulty of opening and closing this fastener can be solved with a single ingenuity.

This time, I would like to introduce to you the ideas that I usually do. If you are using a one-pole tent, please give it a try.

Only pegs and carabiners are used! Easy to make fastener supporter

Fastener supporters can be made by simply passing a carabiner through the hole at the top of the peg.

It isn't easy to open and close the one-pole tent because the position of the fastener is near the ground at the hem of the tent from the inside, and it can not be reached unless you extend your arm.

The solution is to make the fasteners reachable without having to bend down or stretch your arms.

The tools used to achieve this are the familiar items from the camp, the pegs, and the carabiner. As you can imagine, a carabiner is used to connect the pegs to the fasteners on the tent.

Connect the pegs to the fasteners inside the tent.

For example, the Denmark Design Circus I use has a paracord tied to a fastener.

There are paracords on the inside and outside of the tent, but the paracords inside the tent connect the pegs.

Pass the carabiner through the paracord attached to the fastener.

Connect the carabiner through the peg hole to the fastener inside the tent.

If you connect it to the outer zipper or both the inside and outside, you will not open and close it properly. Let's be careful.

An inexpensive product is sufficient for the carabiner used.

The carabiner used for the connection does not have to be expensive.

A relatively inexpensive carabiner is sufficient because the zipper opening and closing operation do not apply a powerful force.

Placing the pegs from the hem of the tent to the inside makes it easier to reach when opening and closing.

When closing the tent, keep the tip of the peg facing the inside of the tent. This will make it easier to reach the pegs when opening and closing the tent, making it easier to open and close.

I use a 40cm peg, but the longer the peg, the less likely it is to bend and stretch your arms, so I recommend using a longer peg.

When opening the tent, grab the peg and lift it.

When opening the zipper, move the peg up.

You can open it smoothly by moving the zipper and the zipper.

As for the closing operation, the fastener can be closed smoothly by pushing down the peg.

The one-pole tent has to bend down to close the zipper, which is quite tricky.

The zipper support makes it much easier to close the zipper without having to bend down deeply.

Precautions for fastener support

When unzipping, the pegs hang above the tent, which gets in the way.

It is convenient zipper support when opening and closing the zipper, but it is a drawback that it gets in the way when the zipper is left open.

If you use the tent with the zipper open for a long time, such as during the daytime of camping, remove the pegs.

It is painful and dangerous if the peg hits your head when you stand up unexpectedly. If you don't open and close frequently, it's a good idea to remove the pegs.

Use a carabiner smaller than the peg hole diameter.

I mentioned earlier that an inexpensive carabiner is sufficient, but as a condition for choosing a carabiner, choose one that is smaller than the hole diameter of the peg.

The Snow Peak Solid Stake 40 I use has a hole diameter of 10mm. The carabiner has a diameter of 7.5 mm.

If the carabiner is too tiny, the pegs and fasteners will get entangled inside the carabiner, and it will not work correctly.

Choose a carabiner with the correct diameter.

Upgrade your one-pole tent and camp comfortably!

Fastener support using pegs and carabiner makes the one-pole tent easy to use without any discomfort.

I usually use a one-pole tent at camp, but this is a method I would like everyone to try.

The beer I drink at the camp is so delicious that I get meat around my abdomen, and it's getting harder to bend down ... I recommend it to campers like me.

Why don't you enjoy camping comfortably by compensating for the weaknesses of the one-pole tent with fastener support? Check Shieldon(outdoor knives) to have more tools for outdoor activity.
