cWe will feature metal match recommendations! What is a metal match in the first place? We will also introduce how to use it. The metal match that can be used by wiping it even if it gets wet is ideal for outdoor activities. It is also attractive that there is no fuel shortage like a lighter!
Light My Fire
A metal match is a tool that uses a highly flammable metal such as magnesium to make a fire. It is called a fire starter depending on the product. Although it is made of metal, it is lightweight and compact, so it is easy to carry and is useful not only for mountaineering but also for camping and disasters.
Metal Match
Spread wood chips or paper that will be the source of fire, and scrape off a small amount of magnesium body with a striker or knife.
If you rub the magnesium body vigorously with a striker or knife, sparks will fly. Sparks are directed toward the magnesium powder that was scraped off earlier. (The trick is to fix the metal fittings and pull the magnesium rod toward you)
When the magnesium powder ignites and the fire begins to burn, immediately add flammable materials such as dead grass and twigs to increase the momentum of the fire.
Size: Rod / approx. 60 x 9.5 mm
Weight: Approximately 55g

“After it arrived, I rubbed it to scatter sparks and played with it, but I tried to ignite the tissue outdoors. I was able to ignite it a few times (about 10 seconds). It is a reassuring tool when you are in a situation where you cannot use a lighter.”

“It's a size that hides in the palm of your hand, but it feels heavy. I could ignite the attached cotton, but I couldn't ignite the tissue. Newsprint cannot be ignited anymore, so practice is required. If you scrape the rod part a little and use it as an ignition agent, it will burn easily.”

The metal match, which is highly portable and can start a fire in any weather, is perfect for mountaineering. Nowadays, the number of people with lighters and matches has decreased, and if you come across a scene where you have to make a fire, you must take it out and it will be more reliable than its size.
