About three years ago, when I mainly used two types of mopeds of considerable size, I rediscovered the fun of motorcycles. It's primarily as fun on a bike, day camp, occasional fishing And take a knife, I think it is the best fixed blade knife.
I don't have enough tools to call it a lifelong thing, but the only thing that came to my mind was the knife my dad made about 30 years ago when I was still in high school.
At that time, there was no such thing as convenient as the Internet, so I think it was customary to rely on books and magazines to make it and where to arrange materials, but at one point, I was reading. He decided to make the same design by looking at the picture of the knife in the magazine.
I relied on only one photo that did not include the size, so I looked at that photo, drew a drawing, purchased the steel material from the mail-order that appeared in the magazine, processed it, and then hardened it again by mail order. I think it took a long time to complete it. When I put it out and returned it, I polished it further and attached a blade. However, when I looked at the finished knife, it looked pretty good, so I remember being a little impressed.
I cooperated with making this knife because I provided the bag used in junior high school as a material for the leather washer of the grip part, cut it out like a washer, and made a distorted engraving. The other thing is to create a leather sheath. (It's hard to see in this photo, but the sheath I made the direction in which the blade fits is a southpaw specification. Even though left-handed people are not close to me ...)
Although it is such a knife since an amateur made it a hobby, the blade thickness is thick, and honestly, it is not suitable for detailed work. Also, for me, a day camp on a motorcycle, a smaller knife is the best. Nevertheless, after all, I still use it as a knife for batoning.
Now that my father is older, I don't think I'll ever have a chance to use this knife with him anymore, but as long as I'm fine, I'll use it more than ever and walk with him.
An inferior fixed blade knife holster that has been turned for left-handed people because I was in charge of making it.
